After an explosive day of action yesterday, it’s time to continue with the GSL groups in the Regional Stage of Spring Sweet Spring 2!
Lilmix 0-2 GORILLAZ (Opening Match)
The first match of the day saw a very interesting lineup take place as the GORILLAZ side join Spring Sweet Spring #2 with a roster consisting of some great names including NaToSaPhiX, sergej, and flusha. This team was taking on Lilmix who fielded GeT_RiGhT as their fifth player due to some roster issues. The mixed European side was able to very quickly progress to a first match victory, with their honeymoon period already seeming to settle in as they progress already into the winner’s match. sergej was the MVP performer of the series getting an insane 2.50 KD when the match finished.
Galaxy Racer 2-0 SJ (Opening Match)
In a little more of a stable match-up, the Swedish side of Galaxy Racer was taking on the Finns of SJ who had just recently added SADDYX back into the roster after his time in ENCE being on the bench. It was clear to see that it was a bit of a slow start for the side of SJ though, as Galaxy Racer were able to wrap up the game in a quick 2-0 fashion to move into the winner’s match versus GORILLAZ. PlesseN was the one to top the scoreboard this time as he was able to pull off a solid 86.1 ADR once the match had ended. Typically players like joelxd are the ones to outperform the rest but that wasn’t the case today.
SJ 2-0 Lilmix (Elimination Match)
Lilmix seem to have been facing issues all day long today as they took on the Finnish side of SJ in the elimination match and failed to really get off the ground in yet another series as the Finnish side cruised to a 2-0 win to knock Lilmix out of the tournament very early. After his first game gave him the chance to warm up, SADDYX seemed to be on top form to help keep his side out of the elimination zone, picking up a solid amount of kills in the maps that were played.
GORILLAZ 0-2 Galaxy Racer (Winner’s Match)
In what was one of the most unpredictable matches of Group C, the winning teams faced off in what was supposed to be a very competitive game, and while the two maps were quite close, it was still Galaxy Racer that were able to come out with yet another 2-0 to get into the Regional Swiss stage already. The first map ended 16-13 and the second followed a similar pattern ending 16-14. Once more, PlesseN was on hand to put up a lightning-level performance proving that he’s feeling his own skills today. His KD wasn’t great but his overall consistent performance earned him yet another MVP award.
GamerLegion 2-0 mYinsanity (Opening Match)
Group D is a very spicy group with some debut teams coming to play here in Spring Sweet Spring 2 including the Swiss-based organization of mYinsanity who join us for the first time here in the Home Sweet Home series. They got a very unwelcoming opponent in the form of GamerLegion though who were on amazing form during this match barely giving their opponents any room to breathe. Especially the key-man Zero, who put up an electric performance with an incredible 108.8 ADR across the two maps and an event better 2.09 KD proving just how dominant the GamerLegion side was during this match.
Chetz 0-2 Ambush (Opening Match)
It seems like all of the new arrivals to Spring Sweet Spring are being roughed up by some of the teams that are comfortable with this tournament as the UK-based organization of Chetz joined us for the first time this tournament. Fielding a mixed nationality roster, they’ve got great players such as jayzaR and Swaggy, but it seems like this wasn’t enough to push them over the line in their opening match as Ambush was able to defeat them in 2 maps. However, both of the games played were relatively close and they gave the French side a run for their money. As long as the tables turn in their favor next game they may be on track for a win!
GamerLegion 2-0 Ambush (Winner’s Match)
GamerLegion seemed to have massively improved since the last time that we witnessed this team play as they once again proved they were the kings of their group by taking down the French side of Ambush 2-0. It was the main man Zero who once more headed the victory for his side putting up the same amount of stats that he did in the previous game, being one of the most consistent players for the European squad. Ambush barely got off the ground in this game, getting only 4 rounds across the two maps, with 2 rounds gathered on each map. GamerLegion stormed their way into the Regional Swiss stage after a very positive day.
mYinsanity 0-2 Chetz (Elimination Match)
The last game of the day followed the pattern of the rest of the games as we got to witness yet another 2-0. This time it was the UK-based side of Chetz coming to life to be able to grab the victory over the Swiss side of mYinsanity. The Swedish player on the Chetz side, jayzaR, was on hand to guide his team to a comfortable victory in two maps, picking up the MVP award for this match. Both of the maps were relatively simple for the Chetz side, with the Swiss team getting 6 and 7 rounds respectively on the two maps. At least they get to advance to Friday’s match to give themselves one last chance of making it into the Regional Swiss stage. They’ve got Ambush to face off against.
